Multifunctional house Rakovník
The house is located on the northern edge of Rakovník near the future feeder road from the D6 highway. The plot adjoins Luženská Street, which has a dual character: on one side there are commercial warehouses, and on the other side, there is residential development interspersed with family houses. The character of the street is mainly shaped by traffic, and its residential function is still emerging. Therefore, the house design aims to introduce a human and representative dimension of public space, at least on a small scale. It opens to the street with a paved entrance area and a trio of trees. The house naturally fits in with the surrounding apartment buildings and family houses. Its articulated façades align with the surrounding family houses, and its volume transitions smoothly from the larger masses of administrative and apartment buildings to the standalone family villas.
The broken shape of the house efficiently utilizes the plot to offer a representative entrance space in front of the house while providing the necessary number of parking spaces behind it. The layout of the house spatially and structurally consists of three "squares," which are further divided into four quadrants, defined by the load-bearing system - columns and beams. This simple rational scheme then consistently determines the layout within the building. It provides a structurally advantageous solution while creating architecturally unique spaces - from generous areas to small rooms.
