Library Boskovice

We design the library as an accessible living institution, a place for education, relaxation, and community gatherings. We open the library to its surroundings, which thus become its integral part. We create a cultivated, representative entrance area for the library, which also serves as a gateway to the city center. The unified appearance of the library connects multiple functions inside, which are highlighted by built-in colored objects. The main entrance from the pedestrian alley introduces visitors to all services: the café on the left, the meeting hall straight ahead, and both library departments on the right. The direct connection between functions is the main asset of the design. Setting back the intermediate floor from the library's façade allows passersby to look into both levels of the library. This connects the activities on the street with those in the library. The unified shaping of the façade, white plaster, angled attic (reminiscent of an open book) complemented by relaxed typography – brings a distinctive motif to this cultural venue.
